Meet Crystal & Mike

Hello!  Let us introduce ourselves.... we are Mike, Crystal, & Abigail. We cannot begin to imagine the roller coaster of emotions you are currently experiencing and our thoughts and prayers are with you. Our journey that led us here has also been a roller coaster ride. Here’s a little bit about us:

Mike is 39 years old and the youngest of three brothers. He grew up in the mountains of Virginia, where a lot of his family still remains. From a very young age, he began working and worked in the tobacco fields and on farms in the area. School wasn’t really his thing but he sure didn’t mind the blue-collar lifestyle. He takes pride in a job well done and currently works in the transportation field performing fleet maintenance. He likes Christian music, reality TV shows, and comedy movies.

Crystal is 37 years old and has four brothers, one sister, and two half-sisters. Two of Crystal’s brothers and one sister were adopted by Crystal’s parents after Mike & Crystal married. Crystal was adopted too and just this past March met her half-sisters for the first time! Crystal is a bookworm and self-declared nerd (which she learned from her oldest brother). She loves all things Star Wars and horror movies. Crystal works in the legal field and hold a Bachelor’s Degree, Doctor of Jurisprudence, as well as being a certified mediator in family law, civil law, and domestic violence circumstances.

Abigail is 6 years old and is our biological child. Through a miracle, we were able to conceive her even though we struggled with infertility for 8 years due to Crystal’s polycystic ovarian syndrome. We began to try to conceive again when Abby was two, with no success. Abigail is looking forward to being a big sister and is saving all of her toys for her little brother or sister.  She is a vibrant child who loves all of the color in the world! She is currently taking dance lessons and recitals are her favorite because she gets to dress up.

We have two large dogs (fur babies) that we rescued. Louie is a lab/golden retriever mix who is about 120 pounds.  He is 9 years old and solid black. He’s the alpha of the pups and has been with Abby since we brought her home from the hospital. He is the protector of the family. Orson is a pit bull/St. Bernard mix who is about 95 pounds. He’s the baby, at just 2 years old.  He loves everyone, absolutely everyone.

We are Christians.  Church is a large part of our lives and we feel called to serve. We also feel that we have been called to adopt. We realize that this isn’t just about us. It’s about you, the baby, extended family, and on and on. We don’t know what has led you here but we thank you for reading this short bio of us and possibly considering us for the child you are carrying. Just like those who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior are adopted into the Christian family, we are hoping to also adopt to add to our family. We are all equals in Christ and we love you.  Jesus loves you.

In our spare time, we love to be on the water. Crystal can’t get enough sunshine (despite the red hair). Mike loves get out on the water and relax. Abigail wants to swim, as long as she can touch bottom. We look for river clams, turtles, herons, shells, fish, and unique rocks. It’s our family time in our busy little world and we cherish it.

Thank you for taking the time to read about us. It is difficult to give a nutshell version of us but we hope that we have shared enough so that you feel that you know us a little. We truly realize how beautiful adoption is because, without it, Crystal wouldn’t be here. Crystal’s bio Mother made the decision to place her with an adoptive family instead of aborting her. That decision alone has altered our lives and here we are, hoping to meet you and share in your journey too.
