Meet John & Meghan

Hi!  We are John, James, and Meghan, and we are so thankful you are taking time to look at our profile.

About us…

We got married surrounded by family and friends.  When the pastor asked “who gives this bride?” Meghan’s dad answered “her mother and I, her brothers, her cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends.”  It was a sweet and funny moment and captured how close our big family is.   We love to laugh, vacation, and most of all, spend time with James, who just turned 4, and loves to tell everyone that he is a big boy.  We are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary this year!

Our son, James…

James is pure sunshine.  He is sweet, hilarious, imaginative, and kind.  He loves to play.  John makes up fun games to play in the house (or wherever we are) and he loves to swim, swing, and play soccer.  He was adopted as an infant, and we have an open relationship with his birth mother and get to visit a few times a year.   Every night, we say prayers of thankfulness for all of our friends and family, and James lists every name, including his Birth Mom and Birth Dad.  At the end he says “Thank you for everyone who loves us. We are so blessed.”

Our people…

We have a village of people around us who love us and love James, Meghan’s mom, John’s parents and sister, and an amazing group of friends, most of who have kids of all ages.   Meghan’s brothers live 3-4 hours away, and James LOVES his cousins!  It is so fun to watch them run around and play together!  James also loves his Nana, Poppa, and “Aunt Moo” (Mary) – John’s family, and we get to see them often!  We have an amazing and diverse church that we attend, and it makes us so grateful for our community.  Being a transracial family, we know having a diverse community is crucial, and our church is a big part of that.

Growing our family…

We are hopeful and excited about becoming a family of four.  Because we’ve grown our family through adoption once before, we have an utmost love and respect for first mothers and first families.  We are praying for you as you navigate the way forward for you and your baby.
