Mickey and Amy

Mickey and Amy

Hi, we are Mickey and Amy. We share our home with three wonderful and rambunctious cats, Maggie, Sebastian, and Porche. We have lived in our home for over 8 years and really love our community.

Our story begins about 17 years ago. We met at Middle Tennessee State University. We were both working on getting our Bachelors degrees. One night we met at a party and a few weeks later we became the inseparable couple that we are now.

Mickey hales from Savannah, Tennessee. He is the oldest of three boys. Both of his parents were teachers and have lived in Savannah for over 30 years. Mickey is also a teacher. He teaches drama and speech at our local high school. He loves working with kids and has a passion for theatre, acting, and the cinema. He is also a set designer. He has designed several sets for our local theatre company and has directed several plays such as Little Shop of Horrors, Twenty Seven Wagons Full of Cotton, and Ten Little Indians.

Amy’s roots tend to be a little on the southern side. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama and lived just above the state line in a little community called Blanche, Tennessee. She is an only child. Amy’s mom and dad still reside in Blanche. Her mom is a photographer and her dad is a service manager for a propane gas company. Amy is a healthcare analyst and medical billing consultant. She has worked for the same company for nine years. As for her free time, she loves cooking, watching HGTV, shopping, and going to the movies.

For over fourteen years we have been active with our local community theatre. We have acted in several productions and have lent a hand to several other events that have gone on at the theatre. As you can tell we both enjoy the arts. Both of us love going to the movies, listening to different types of music, viewing local art exhibits, and taking in the occasional show at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

As you may be able to tell we are an active family. We have no children of our own, but would love to be parents. Seven years ago we began the process of trying to have children. It was a heartbreaking process. We tried several courses of fertility drugs and after several visits to the doctor we came to the conclusion that we were meant for another path. We pondered and prayed over the idea of adoption. The more educated we became; the more we realized we were ready to embark on a journey that would eventually lead us to the door of Miriam’s Promise.

Neither one of us know what it’s like to have an unplanned pregnancy. We can only imagine how hard it must be for you to make the decision you have to make. We both believe that anyone who is able to put their child’s needs ahead of their own is a genuinely selfless person. We want you to know that we respect any decision a woman makes as it concerns her body, but we would also like you to know that we are decent, hardworking, and loving people who so very much want to share our lives with a child. If you choose us as adoptive parents for your child we plan on being very open about the adoption process and want our child to grow up knowing how much their birth mother loved them.

Well, that is us in a nut shell. If you would like to consider us as adoptive parents please contact Anne Byrn Floyd or Lee-Ann Higgins at Miriam’s Promise at 615-292-3500. We would be delighted to hear from you and would love to be considered as adoptive parents for your child.

Michael, Stephanie and Jayda

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We are Mike, Stephanie, and Jayda. Mike and Stephanie have been married since 1994. We were actually high school sweethearts. It seems like we have known each other forever. When we were kids, people that knew us always said we would be married one day. Stephanie was 16 and Mike was 18 when we started dating and the rest is history. We have a strong marriage based on honesty and respect.

We had been married about a year when we decided to try and start a family. After a year of trying with no luck, we decided to see a fertility specialist and started treatments. That was a heartbreaking time in our lives and we were never able to get pregnant. We truly believe that God’s plan for us was adoption the entire time but we had to figure it out for ourselves. In 2005 God brought into our lives the most amazing eighteen month old little girl we had ever met. Jayda was the answer to a prayer we had been praying for eleven years. Now we have a new prayer for God to bless our lives with another child to love and adore. Every night we say our prayers and Jayda without fail prays for a brother or sister to add to our family.

We live in the country on a dead in road next to Stephanie’s parents. We have our own little zoo that includes a dog named Bella, a cat named Cheyanne, four goldfish, a hamster named Hammy (Jayda named him), a hermit crab named Fasty (Jayda named also), and last we have a horse named Lady Bell. Family is very important to us and we spend lots of time with our families. For entertainment we love to go to the park, or a movie, or just hanging out at home. One of Jayda’s favorite things to do is have a sleepover with a friend or cousin. We love taking vacations with friends and family. Our favorite place to vacation is the beach. Our family also enjoys going to the zoo and the aquarium.

Mike is an elementary school teacher who teaches first grade. Stephanie is a registered nurse at a local hospital where she works in an IV Clinic three days a week. We attend a Nazarene church where Mike is the assistant pastor. Our faith is important to us and a big part of our life. We are very involved with the children’s program at our church, and lead many activates with the children.

Adoption is a beautiful way to help two difficult situations. We are humbled by the sacrifice that you will make to help us become parents again and it will never be forgotten. Jayda is not flesh of our flesh or bone of our bone, but she came from our heart, and we can’t wait to meet the next miracle that God has for us. We are open to pictures, letters, and phone calls. Your child will be raised knowing about the loving choice you made for them. We look forward to meeting you.

Love,

Mike, Stephanie, and Jayda

Mark and Nancy

This is possibly the most difficult thing we ever had to do. What exactly does one say to someone they never met? Please don’t hold it against us that we are not the poetic type of people. We are the down to earth, up front; and speak our minds kind of people.

We’re going to try our best to convey to you how much this means to us.

This is the first time adopting for us and this will be our first child.

We want to thank you in advance for what we are about to receive.

We thank God in advance for what he is about to do for us. Just to let you know we are thanking him now, also. You are in our prayers.

We got married on May the 15th. 1993. We still live in our first home and have been here for twelve years. We live in a small town in TN. Our house sits on four acres of land that’s a lot of room to run and play. We have a small dog (Trixie) and two cats (Baby girl and Addie). I have worked for a financial company for fifteen years and Mark is self-employed as a cabinet maker. His shop is right outside our house.

I am thirty nine and Mark will be forty two in March.

I lost my dad to cancer about six months before Mark and I started dating. My mom (Catherine) has lived with us now for about nine years.

Our house is currently undergoing a remodel. We are finishing out the basement. We are preparing our home for the baby.

We are building Mom her own living quarters and the baby’s room will be mom’s old one. It’s right next to ours.

I have a large tight knit family with a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins. This means a lot of family reunions and getting together events i.e. holidays, Birthdays ect..

Marks family is the spread out all over the world kind of family. Mark has an older sister (Angela) that lives in North Carolina and his parents are divorced and they both remarried. His father (Major) and step mom (Anna) live five miles from us. Then there is our church family. They are the ones probably most excited about us adopting. I’m not saying that ours isn’t, but we are around our church family more than our own. This is to say that we do a lot of church functions i.e. V.B.S., Camp, missions, ect.

Mark and I like to do a lot of kid stuff even on our own, just earlier this month we went to the “Toby Mac winter wonder slam concert.” We hope to be going to the “Winter Jam concert” and others as well. We like to go to Nashville shores, to the aquariums in Chattanooga and Gatlinburg TN. We are planning to go to Holiday world this summer with the kids from church. We have just become the “Youth Directors” at our church. So we will be doing a lot more kid stuff. If at all possible we like to get away at least once a year and have some R-N-R even if it is just for the weekend.

We are looking forward to the day(s) that our child will have the opportunity to share in all of what we have to offer and we get to share in the dreams and aspirations of this new miracle of life.

We hope we get the chance to meet with you and talk about our future together. I hope we can answer any of your questions and or concerns.

Sincerely,

Mark and Nancy Hall
