Please check back with us shortly for an update on the Golf & Walk Challenge.

We want to invite everyone to come and participate in our GOLF AND WALK CHALLENGE on September 29th, 2008 at Old Natchez Country Club in Franklin.

How does the Golf and Walk Challenge work?
On September 29th, you will join 200 or more other golfers and walkers for a fabulous day.  Walkers will take to the course at 7:00 am. with a breakfast and thank you after.  The Golfers will begin at 10:00am for a 18 hole scramble with lunch served during the challenge and snacks and thank you afterward.  Your “work” begins when you commit to raising funds and friends for Miriam’s Promise.   You can combine your love of golf and walking with your belief in the work of Miriam’s Promise  by letting others know of this ministry and by giving them the opportunity to assist you.

How do others help me?
You can multiply your fund-raising efforts by having partners who also write letters or gather individual or corporate sponsors for you.  Friends and family members can also be a part of your efforts by agreeing to sponsor your play or volunteering on the day of the event.  Businesses and professionals can participate by being a Hole Sponsor (due by Sept. 18th).

What’s included in the golf and walk challenge?
Several weeks prior to the event, each golfer and walker will receive a player packet with the tools you will need to raise sponsorships.   The packets will be available at our Tee-Off on August 19th at 7:00pm, Junior League of Nashville Training and Conference Center, 2202 Crestmoor Road, Nashville, TN - everyone is invited to attend.   On September 29th you will enjoy a morning of walking Old Natchez Country Club or playing a round of golf, a variety of prizes for just attending, for fund-raising and golf skill.  There is no entry fee for the golfer or walker.

What does it cost me?
Remember, there is no entry fee.  All we ask is that you diligently provide the opportunity for your friends and family; giving them information about Miriam’s Promise and asking them to help you raise funds.  Just think, if everyone sends 50 letters and brochures, over 5,000 households will learn about the work of Miriam’s Promise and have the opportunity to give.   The sky is the limit and the best part is that your efforts make a significant impact on young women, children and families in your community.   All contributions are tax-deductible.

How are the funds collected?
Many golfers and walkers include a self-addressed stamped envelope with their letters so friends can easily return their check or pledge.   A special donation sheet envelope will be provided to you to record your gifts and pledges.  This also provides a way to keep your donations together until you turn them in.  Checks and pledges are collected the day of the event at registration or can be mailed into our office.   After the event, we will send your unpaid sponsors a special thank you letter telling them you completed the challenge and reminding them of their pledge total.

What if I don’t raise the goal?
This event is unique.  You have a special opportunity to make a major impact.  We are thrilled to have you join us.  Your commitment of time and energy is critical to the success of this event.  We do have limited spaces available, so your role is important.  We are asking that as a participant, you do all you can to develop your sponsorships goals.  As a minimum to play golf, we ask that you raise at least $500.   As a minimum to walk, we ask that you raise a least $250.
